Business Intelligence has been a hot topic in recent years, whether in the context of corporate performance management, business process improvement or compliance. Strong technology exists in this relatively mature market, and yet many business intelligence solutions have been seen as costly failures, unable to deliver the benefits promised.
ICS Ltd – the Microsoft Business Intelligence expert, wanted to understand why Business Intelligence in the UK was not delivering the value it should. To do this, we needed to examine whether companies were making the most of the information they had at their disposal. This was the basic premise for our study, ‘The Information Black Hole, undertaken in March and April 2006.
